WHY CIRCLE?
- Circles are softer and more welcoming than harshly-angled shapes like triangles and squares.
- They stand for strength and steadiness
- Circles are consistent and sturdy – they don’t have any breaks or turns. Make you and your business appear more reliable.
- Circles are most frequently used to represent things of the same shape that we know and create a sense of completeness. Because a circle does not have a distinct beginning or end, they imply movement.
- The shape is thought to have a feminine association and is connected to love, energy and power.
- A circle stands for strength and community
- They represent completion, wholeness and harmony
THE COLOUR RED; AND ITS DERIVATIVE – BURGUNDY
Burgundy is a deep reddish-brown shade. This dark red is the result of mixing red with a dash of green and blue, resulting in brown with purple undertones.
The hex code for burgundy used here is #800020
Red is energising. It excites the emotions and motivates us to take action. It signifies pioneering spirit and leadership qualities, promoting ambition and determination.
The deeper tone of red is more sophisticated and serious than true red, symbolising ambition, intellectual depth and power.
THE DOTTED LINE:
The artist regularly deploys the use of the needle as a symbol of femininity, both sublime and violent, in order to reveal inherent contradictions in the lived reality of the female figure.
This intersects with her investigation of the female body and the ways in which it is made visible or invisible in a local context.
In Visual language the dashed line often represents something that is transitional, it indicating there is more to come, there is progress and the journey for the artist is a continuing one.
